Friday Face Off: A Bouquet for You M’Lady

The Friday Face off is a weekly meme hosted by Books by Proxy and the official rules can be found here.  This is a fun way to feature your favorite book covers and show off your favorite edition!

A bouquet for you m’lady – A cover featuring a flower/flowers

This week I’m featuring Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr.

I have such fond memories of the entire Wicked Lovely series and Darkest Mercy was a stellar conclusion. The covers for each of the books are gorgeous, but Darkest Mercy has my favorite cover of all of them (not by much though!). In discussion, covers are numbered 1-4, left to right.

THE WINNER IS:

The US edition is my winner this week! Cover #1 (Italian edition) is a verrrry close second, but the colors on #3 are so pretty. The winning cover is glamorous, chilly, and elegantly fae-like, which the competitors just don’t quite capture as well. Cover #2 (Indonesian edition) is pretty, but the girl on the front looks way to human for a book about the fae. Cover #4 (German edition) is singularly unappealing. WHY? I wouldn’t pick that up in the book store for the cover, that’s for sure. Which is your favorite? Have you read this series and, if so, did you like it?

  1. I’ve tried reading this series about 3 times and I just couldn’t do it and I’m sort of waiting on someone telling me that I really have to give it another go. I just didn’t enjoy the writing which made me really sad because fae are my favourite fantasy creature and I’ll pretty much read anything with them.
