“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme originally hosted on Breaking the Spine but has since linked up with “Can’t Wait Wednesday” at Wishful Endings now that the original creator is unable to host it anymore. This is a great way to share upcoming released you’re excited about!

Michael J. Sullivan is, as always, timely in the release of his books and Age of Legend is scheduled to release in July 2019. Interestingly enough, I only see release information for Grim Oak Press, and not the usual publisher, Del Rey Books. Perhaps I’m just a little ahead of things? Anyhow, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out after the dramatic events of the previous book. I love the cover – it reminds me of Middle Earth so much!

I was pretty sure he had an iron clad contract with Del Rey for the whole series.
I just checked out Grim Oak. They have a Complete Magician by Feist, signed and numbered that is a “preorder” and will “print and ship in 2018”. That does NOT inspire confidence.
Does look like that they specialize in signed editions. Not sure how that would get them rights to his Age of…series…

I was under the same impression regarding the Del Rey contract, though I’m not seeing anything on their website or Amazon as far as pre-order info. It’s possible that it’s a little early for Del Rey’s preorder to be up yet… guess we’ll see.

I wrote about it in my comment below, but figured you would be interested in this too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/6f1v96/why_del_rey_and_i_will_be_parting_ways/
MJS did part ways with Del Rey, and it was over audio rights issues.

Thanks for sharing this!!! I just hope whoever publishes the rest of the series will keep the book size/art consistent!

I think I read somewhere (on Goodreads or his newsletter, can’t remember) that he had a falling out with Del Rey over some audio rights issue. Or something. Last I heard, he’d walked away from the contract and was seeking another publisher for the series going forward, and I guess this is it.

Ah, never mind, it was reddit! I found his write-up on the issue https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/6f1v96/why_del_rey_and_i_will_be_parting_ways/
