I’ve been sooo curious about this book and can’t wait to dive in. I’m seeing lots of 3 and 4 star reviews for this book (and several 1 and 2 stars), so I’m trying to lower my expectations just a smidge. I don’t want to be TOO disappointed, you know?

It is amazing how expectations can completely make or break a book for us. I’m always thankful when I see lower ratings for a book I’m going to read, as it means that if I do enjoy it as much as I thought, it almost feels like I enjoyed it more. You know what I mean?

I do know what you mean! If I’m not expecting to be impressed with a book and it ends up being pretty good, I have an overall more favorable opinion of it.
