Subscription Box Review: OwlCrate – February 2020

Basic Box Info

This box only has two options – Owlcrate, which caters to fans of Young Adult books and Owlcrate Jr, which caters to Middle Grade readers.

  • Owlcrate (29.99 + Shipping)
  • Owlcrate Jr. (27.99 + Shipping)

Boxes are shipped between the 15th and 20th of each month. Shipping is available worldwide, with the exceptions of Mexico and Peru. The FAQ said that delivery was proving to be unreliable in these countries, though if a more reliable shipping service is available service may resume in the future.

February 2020 Unboxing: A Power Within

I’m a big nerd and forgot to take a picture of the entire box contents, so we’ll jump right into the book feature for the month! All the Stars and Teeth has the most beautiful cover and the OwlCrate exclusive is AWESOME. Pirates and magic and vengeful mermaids!!

OwlCrate always includes the best combo of interesting/useful items and this month is on trend with that. Here we having a screen wipe (EXTRRAAAA LARGE) and a set of metal bookmarks with designs inspired by the Truthwitch series. Trust me, there are two I just stacked em up real nice and neat.

Here’s the ubiquitous pin included in each and every box, inspired by the months book selection. It’s a shell crown with some creepy tentacles. The Brakebill’s keychain is super nice quality, but I’m not into displaying “alumni” stuff from a fictional university.

Possibly the coolest item this month is this gorgeous, shiny deck of cards featuring characters from Throne of Glass. Each suit features art from a different artist and they’re all quite lovely. Plus, the edges are this viciously metallic purple and I thought they were metal at first glance!

The “big item” this month is literally big and it’s actually a bento box with the alphabet used in the Mistborn series. I admit, this wasn’t what I had in mind when I thought of a Mistborn themed item, but it’s really unique! I’m not sure how long the little clasps will hold up, but it’ll be great for some adult lunchables.

  1. OMG

I would have wanted this for the Mistborn lunch box alone!!

That seems to be really good value! I’m a bit jealous cause all the neat subscription boxes cost a fortune in delivery fees for me in Australia. And the options within the country are few and not convincing so far 😦
