Subscription Box Review: OwlCrate – September 2020

Basic Box Info

This box only has two options – Owlcrate, which caters to fans of Young Adult books and Owlcrate Jr, which caters to Middle Grade readers.

Boxes are shipped between the 15th and 20th of each month. Shipping is available worldwide, with the exceptions of Mexico and Peru. The FAQ said that delivery was proving to be unreliable in these countries, though if a more reliable shipping service is available service may resume in the future.

September 2020: A Glorious Haunting

This is one of my favorite boxes from OwlCrate in awhile! For one, all of the items are things I’ll actually use AND I love the autumnal, spooky themes!

First up, we have the book feature for the month, which is Horrid by Katrina Leno. This is a spooky tale set in an old house in Maine with lots of family secrets. Also in the picture above is this cool chain and pendant bookmark that says “Death before DNF”.

One of my favorite things to get, in a subscription box or otherwise, are candles! The Black Flame Candle smells quite nice – bourbon and vanilla. The Sleepy Hollow lip balm is pumpkin spice scented, though it’s not a strong scent at all. 

And here are SPOOKY STIRRING SPOONS. I’m leaving these next to the coffee maker so my husband will stop dirtying all my regular spoons. I love the design.

And of course we have the lovely pin of the month! I didn’t get a standalone picture of the big item this month – an awesome throw blanket printed with the entire text of The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. It’s the background for each of the pictures, so you can get an idea of what it looks like.
