Stacking the Shelves: 3/30/24

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Reading Reality and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course audiobooks and ebooks!

Received for Review:

I’ve received an unusual variety of physical ARCs and finished copies in the last month. First up, we have Forge of the High Mage, which is the long awaited continuation of the Paths to Ascendancy series.  I also received an ARC of Navola, which sounds amazing and is also the most perfect floppy paperback. Finally, I received a finished copy of The Narrow Road Between Desires, a late 2023 release, and I was surprised to be offered a copy so many months after release.

Thanks to Tor Books, Knopf, and DAW for the print copies!

The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love by India Holton
Rival ornithologists are forced to team up to win a cutthroat competition – of course, it’s a rom-com so you know it’s going to be a good time!

The Witchstone by Henry H. Neff
A story about a demon who just wants to enjoy the finer amenities of the human world, while also overseeing a cursed family. He must team up with the current curse bearer to break or else get turned into primordial ooze (poor performance review).

Blood on the Tide by Katee Robert
This is the second book in a fantasy romance set in a world full of monster killing pirates. I didn’t realize it was a second book… oops!

Necrobane by Daniel M. Ford
I’ve already read this and loved it! An excellent sequel – review to come soon!

Asunder by Kerstin Hall
I love the synopsis for this – it’s so vague yet intriguing. A world where people choose their gods, and the main character accidentally binds a dying stranger to her shadow.

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher
You KNOW I can’t turn down a T. Kingfisher book! Each and every one is so good, and this already has glowing early reviews.

Thanks to Berkley, Blackstone Publishing, and Tor Books for the eARCs!

My Purchases:

I have two gorgeous editions from The Broken Binding – first up, the final book in the Hanged God trilogy, Slaughtered Gods. It has fantastic cover art, foiling on the cover, endpaper art, and the author even drew a little Viking art doodle on the signature page! I also finally got my copy of The Tainted Cup, which was an incredible mystery/fantasy that I gave 5 stars!

**I’ve stopped featuring all the ebooks and audiobooks I pick up because it makes this post take twice as long to put together and it’s not that interesting anyway.
