Stacking the Shelves: 5/25/24

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Reading Reality and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course audiobooks and ebooks!

Received for Review:

Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
I have had my eye on this for months, but hadn’t bit the bullet on the purchase so when I was offered an eARC I jumped on it! This book was an absolute riot and I can’t wait to share my review!

A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney
Just the cover looks like the most perfect witchy read for a cool fall evening. It’s about a witch prepping for a Halloween gathering for the coven, while also dealing with a handsome stranger’s unexpected arrival and a recently uncovered family secret.

The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons
I mean, it’s about dragons. Why wouldn’t I want to read it? Dragons rule in this world, but the main character is pulled into a scheme to steal a dragon’s hoard – sound dangerous!

The Full Moon Coffee Shop by Mai Mochizuki
Could not resist the kitty cats on the cover, plus it’s supposed to be cozy! I’ve already read this and it was interesting but I won’t be posting the review until a bit closer to the release date.

Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao
The synopsis of this reminds me a bit of The Full Moon Coffee Shop, but with a magical pawn shop instead.

Witch Queen of Redwinter by Ed McDonald
This is one of my most anticipated sequels of 2024 and I must say, the cover is incredible. I really love the art style and I can’t wait to see how this series wraps up!

Mistress of Lies by K.M. Enright
This books has a whole list of things I’m fascinated by – magical killers, vampires, political fantasy – all the good stuff.

The Gods Below by Andrea Stewart
I’ve been eagerly awaiting a new book from Andrea Stewart since the conclusion of the Bone Shard Daughter series. Also, magic is bestowed by gemstone which I think sounds awesome.

Thanks to Ace, Alcove Press, Tor Books, Ballantine, Del Rey, and Orbit for the eARCs!

My Purchases:

My lone book arrival this month was this absolutely stunning FairyLoot edition of Evocation by S.T. Gibson. I am an absolute sucker for red and gold on a cover! This also has lovely foiling on the hardcover, character art on the end papers, and a nice design on the page edges.

  3. Only eight for the month—you’re doing quite well cutting back! We share Water Moon and Gods Below, but I still need to get a copy of Redwinter! Still need to get through the last one, too 😅 Hope you have a great month of reading!!
