Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Recent Favorite Fantasy Romance Books

This week’s theme is a freebie, so I thought I would share 10 fantasy romance books that I’ve loved recently. These are perfect to add to your TBR anytime of year, but summer just seems like a great time to read romance.

• Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent – this is fantasy romance for those who really like some worldbuilding and action with the (slow burn) spice. Definitely my favorite romantasy of 2024!
• When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker – this is set in a complex world with magic, dragons, and lovers separated by time and death. Again, this is heavy on the fantasy and plot, especially toward the beginning of the story.
• The Burning Witch 3 by Delemhach – this whole series just made me SO happy!
• Salt & Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher – an eerie retelling of Jane Eyre with witches and dark magic aplenty. Though the spice level is low, this is a romance at its heart.
• The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst – delightful, cozy romance where a runaway librarian tries her best to avoid falling for the handsome mer-horse keeper so he won’t discover her secrets. Also, there’s a talking plant.

• The Lord of Stariel by A.J. Lancaster – this is another book I’d define as ‘cute’ but there’s plenty of tension between the interested parties and I like the mystery element it has.
• The Hemlock Queen by Hannah Whitten – I almost didn’t put this on the list, because it leans WAY more fantasy than romance, but the romance is very important to the plot and the love triangle between three of the characters is so intense and I loved it!
• A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene – if you want your fill of traditional mythologically inspired fae, you should check this out! It’s about a changeling princess who is sent to rescue the real princess, but starts to fall for the dark fae prince who holds her captive.
• Paladin’s Faith by T. Kingfisher – every single book in The Saint of Steel series is excellent! This might be my favorite of the four out right now – paladin pining, a beautiful spy, and a mission to complete.
• Bride by Ali Hazelwood – surprisingly, this is the spiciest of all 10 books on this list by far. If you’re a fan of vampires and werewolves you should definitely give this a shot!
