The Gods Below by Andrea StewartI'm getting started on September ARCs now and first up is The Gods Below. This is a fascinating world full of different gods and follows two sisters who were separated a decade ago. Hakara has been mining magical gemstones in order to save up enough to return to where she... Continue Reading →
The Village Library Demon-Hunting Society by C.M. WaggonerI can't believe how utterly unputdownable this book is! I started it last night, with the intention of seeing if it grabbed me and well, 40% later, I can say yes it did grab me. It's cozy and has an older main character who has been helping solve... Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees BrennanNow that I've had a couple mood reads, it's time to wrap up my August ARCs! I've been looking forward to this one, as I've seen some positive reactions to the story and I love the synopsis. The Gathering by C.J. TudorI picked this up during a recent Audible... The Secret History by Donna TarttHonestly, at 20% in, I don't quite know what to make of this book. The descriptions of Vermont and the gorgeous, crisp fall days are wonderful. The characters are a mixed bag and I don't quite like any of them at this point, even the narrator who's web of lies... Continue Reading →
Asunder by Kerstin HallI was SO intrigued by Asunder's synopsis and I'm happy to say that it's been a fabulous read thus far! The religion(s) are complicated, but I do love a good murder investigation and Karys even has a built in buddy who may or may not accidentally kill her! The Midnight Feast by... Continue Reading →
A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. JensenI'm finally reading my oldest book on NetGalley! I don't know why I didn't pick this up much earlier, but I can already tell I'm going to like it. Mother of Death & Dawn by Carissa BroadbentIt's already time to wrap up the War of Lost Hearts... Continue Reading →
If We Were Villains by M.L. RioI love a good dark academia fantasy, but I haven't read many of the most recommended non-fantasy dark academia books. I decided to change that and ordered a bunch of must-reads and If We Were Villains is the first in what I've dubbed the Dark Academia Read-A-Thon! I'm also... Continue Reading →
The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love by India Holton I needed something fun to read while traveling, so I decided to pick up this fantasy romance! It follows two rival ornithologists (of magical birds!) as they search for a rare bird that comes with a coveted prize. I was traveling over the holiday weekend and... Continue Reading →
The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. SongThis is a retelling of Mulan and I am shocked by how quickly I'm zipping right through it! I hope to have a review up on Sunday (optimistic). The Daughters' War by Christopher BuehlmanI'm taking a little break from the Carissa Broadbent series to check out The Daughters'... Continue Reading →
The Sky on Fire by Jen LyonsIt's time to get serious about all the July ARCs on my TBR and The Sky on Fire is the first one on my checklist. I'm about 15% in and I'm intrigued. The dragons seem to run things and only have humans to do their bidding, plus there's some... Continue Reading →
