The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso It's no secret that I loved Melissa Caruso's first trilogy, so when an ARC showed up of the first book in her new series I was THRILLED! It's set in the same world, some time after the events of the first trilogy and this time the main character is... Continue Reading →

By Force Alone by Lavie Tidhar This certainly isn't what I expected out of this book. Based on the synopsis (political satire!) I expected it to have a certain dry humor that is actually non-existent. Fair warning. It's not funny. It is an interesting take on the Arthurian legends for sure.

Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio This is actually a re-read in anticipation of the third book in the series coming out in July. I loved this book, but it's dense and so much happens that I couldn't remember what was going on when I picked up the second book. You can check out my... Continue Reading →

The Kingdom of Liars by Nick Martell First of all, I loved the cover for this and second, Brandon Sanderson is blurbed on the front! I've been looking forward to reading this a little closer to the release date coming up May 5. I'm intrigued by the idea that magic costs memories and can't wait... Continue Reading →

Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman After finishing Scythe I went ahead and bought the rest of the series and clearly I couldn't stay away from it for long. I'm expecting great things, as this has one of the highest ratings I've seen for a YA book on Goodreads! Can't wait to dig in to see what... Continue Reading →

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix AHHHHH it's finally coming out on Tuesday!! I'm really looking forward to this quirky, awesome sounding horror/fantasy. Initial reviews are looking good, so I have pretty high hopes. Race the Sands by Sarah Beth Durst This sounds like a pretty wild story and once... Continue Reading →

Dragonslayer by Ducan M. Hamilton This just sounded really fun. A guard and a magical barmaid are sent off to slay a dragon. The big selling point for me is that apparently the dragon gets its own POV chapters! It's a trilogy that is now complete, so if I really like this I can binge... Continue Reading →

Out of Body by Jeffrey Ford This will be a nice, short change of pace after the heavy fantasy books I've been reading. A little horror, a lot weird. The synopsis is pretty vague and that makes it more exciting. The Sin in the Steel by Ryan Van Loan I'm definitely jumping the gun on... Continue Reading →

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas I've been flying through this book! Love my junk food reads - so much so that I might have finished this before this post goes up! Ravencaller by David Dalglish I'm very much looking forward to this book. The first book was quite good and the... Continue Reading →

Legacy of Ash by Matthew Ward I've had a print arc for a few months (though the audiobook and ebook have been out since November) and figured I'd try to work my way through this tome before its print release in April. It gives me strong Roman vibes and I'm already curious to see if... Continue Reading →
