Book Reviews + More
The Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner I had planned to read this not long after it arrived, but things happen so I'm just now getting around to it. So far it's interesting enough and the fact that each sister's chapter has its own writing style is pretty cool. I'm also finishing up... Continue Reading →
The Way of the Shield by Marshall Ryan Maresca Wow, so here we are with series #4 in the Maradaine universe. I'm ~40% through this one and it's good, but so far I just haven't clicked with the characters the same way as the previous books. Only time will tell! Kingdom of Ash... Continue Reading →
Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko I've been looking forward to this book since I first came across the synopsis! Thus far it's weird but very good, so we'll see how the rest of the book pans out. This book may have the weirdest magic school yet, even stranger than Brakebills from Lev Grossman's... Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds by Brandon Sanderson This is one of the two Brandon Sanderson series that I hadn't yet read, but since this series is now complete I decided to pick it up. I've already started this and am enjoying it, plus it's remarkable different from Sanderson's other books.
Charmcaster by Sebastien de Castell I was going to hold off on reading this for another week, but it'll make the perfect palate cleanser between two fairy tale stories. I've been getting through this series very quickly and expect this to be as fun as the previous two installments. The Sisters of the Winter... Continue Reading →
The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton I've SOOOO been looking forward to reading this one since I saw so many positive reviews from UK reviewers earlier this year. It's a murder mystery with a hint of SFF thrown in for added excitement. I genuinely hope this ends up being a 5... Continue Reading →
Blood of the Gods by David Mealing Sequel time! This is a huge book so unless I get lots of reading done today while I'm off work it might take more than a week. Can't wait to check it out though! The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty I've been meaning to pick... Continue Reading →
Shadowblack by Sebastien de Castell I couldn't wait to pick this series back up so I put the book I was trying to read last week to the side for the moment. I'm 150 pages in and so far it's just as interesting as the first! I image I'll finish this one very quickly and... Continue Reading →
Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice I've always wanted to check out one of Anne Rice's books and this one seemed like the logical place to start. I saw very mixed reviews of it and in many cases people said the movie was better than the book. I too have mixed feeling about this...... Continue Reading →
Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames This is definitely one of my most anticipated books of 2018 and I'm so excited to have it on hand a bit early! I'm currently ~100 pages into the book already and thus far I like the new cast of characters, though the action has yet to truly pick up.... Continue Reading →
