Friday Face Off: Consumed By the Darkness Within, It Hides All Our Sins

The Friday Face off is a weekly meme hosted by Books by Proxy and the official rules can be found here.  This is a fun way to feature your favorite book covers and show off your favorite edition!

Consumed by the darkness within, it hides all our sins- A cover that is predominantly black.

This week’s pick is Golden Son by Pierce Brown. One of the most gloriously epic books of all time (that I’ve read).

The Winner Is:

This edition is my favorite of the selections, though cover #4 on the right is a very close second. Covers 2-4 were all really awesome looking until I pulled up a larger image, then they just weren’t quite up to par. The people on the fronts just looked a little funny, like the artist was doing great until they got to the face. Cover #3 almost went full on fresco Jesus.

Just kidding, it wasn’t nearly this bad.

  1. Totally agree with your choice of cover! And, fresco Jesus, quality, made me smile! 😀

On a side note, I know you usually do the face-off. In proxy’s absence myself, Sarah and Lynn have been picking the themes, the last lot we picked runs out next week and we’re coming up with some more themes. Another blogger saw the face-off on my blog and asked for a list of the themes and has asked again for the new list as it’s easier to draft a post if you know the themes in advance. I don’t know if any of the other bloggers already send you a list of the upcoming themes – if they do, then apologies and ignore this paragraph but if not, do you want the list of upcoming themes sending to you?

  2. I have never even seen some of these other covers for this book, they sure are all very different, aren’t they? I usually like it when a cover depicts a character, but probably not in this case. So I agree with your choice.

    1. The foreign edition covers were new to me as well- it’s awesome that you can find all the different covers on Goodreads. I literally looked at the little tiny pic of the covers and thought ‘awesome’ and when I pulled up the large image it was like Luke Skywalker “NOOOOO!”
