October 2019 Unboxing – Dawn of a New World

The October box came with TWO brand new signed sci-fi releases which automatically made this box worth it! The books total almost $34.00 and the box itself only costs $29.99, plus you get all the cool goodies. I Hope You Get This Message is a contemporary sci-fi apocalypse story following the lives of three teens. Crier’s War is set in a world where automata have overthrown humans and a human girl is sent to assassinate the daughter of the Sovereign. Neither are books I would have picked up of my own volition, but now that I have them I may just give them a chance!

The first item – and maybe the one I was most excited about – is this super cool little book shaped tin! It has different quotes printed on the front, back, and inside cover from The Illuminae Files and was designed by Stella Bookish Art. It seems to be of good quality and I’m definitely going to find something cool to stash in it!

Next up, we have TWO pins inspired by this month’s book selections and designed by The Enchanted Bookshop. I really love the heart pin! A set of Craftedvan’s mini magnetic bookmarks based off the comic series Saga were also included. I haven’t heard of this series but it does sound pretty cool even though I don’t usually read comics. The coolest thing about the bookmarks is that they show the backside of the characters too – such a nice touch!

Much to my surprise, I found a little blue velvet box while digging through all the little paper packing noodles and it had this lovely necklace inspired by The Lunar Chronicles. It is fittingly designed with a circuit board pattern and is on quite a long chain. This was designed by Iron and Ink Designs who also make some sweeeet enamel pins.

Lastly, a Warcross inspired sticker designed by Blanca Montiel. I love the quote and let me tell you, this was SO hard to get a decent picture of this sticker!!

That’s it for this month but if you’re interested, this box may still be available for purchase! If not, the November theme sounds even better – it’s Through the Enchanted Forest and will include items inspired by The Cruel Prince, The Raven Boys, and Uprooted!

    1. This is only my second OwlCrate box but both have been awesome. I’ve been following their Instagram for a year or more and the unboxings always look really cool and the book choices are pretty good. I’m also trying out Bookish Box and Fairyloot and should have reviews up for both of those next week!
