I have soooo not had much luck with books this month! I’ve DNF’d two books, one of which was one of my most anticipated releases of 2022 and the other just couldn’t hold my interest. I’m having better luck with my current read of the week, which I’m already 40% through. Hopefully this slump/reading funk goes away soon!
The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
I’m enjoying this more than I expected to and love the atmosphere! It’s strange and doesn’t really fit the horror label that so many folks on Goodreads have given it (so far anyway).

I’m struggling a bit too. I nearly DNF’d ‘The Lost Time Accidents’. Looking forward to your review of Silvia Morena Garcia’s book.

I haven’t heard of The Lost Time Accidents, but sounds like that might be for the best!

I’ve read the first couple of chapters of Doctor Moreau and I like it so far. I saw the author on social media telling everyone that it isn’t horror so I’m going into it with that expectation😁

I’m glad it’s not horror! It’s definitely more historical fiction with a smidgen of sci-fi in my opinion!

You’re not alone. I DNFed like three books this month without getting further than like 10% in.

It’s so disappointing when that happens ☹️ especially if it’s something you were excited to read.

Don’t worry about it. So far this year I’ve DNF’d Locklands, Hunger of the Gods, Dead Silence, and Age of Ash. More books on my anticipated list than I’ve actually finished 😂😭
Hope it turns around for you soon!!

Wow!! I didn’t care for Locklands or Age of Ash, but was able to finish them. I won’t be picking up any sequels for Age of Ash though!

Good to know! Thanks for the rec! Orrr, de-rec?
Out of curiosity, what did you dnf?

The First Binding by R.R Virdi (I was soooo disappointed) and The Flames of Mira by Clay Harmon. The Flames of Mira was actually pretty cool concept-wise, but it just didn’t hold my attention so I picked up something else.
