Stacking the Shelves: 8/30/25

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly (or in my case monthly) meme hosted by Reading Reality and it’s all about sharing the books you’ve added to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course audiobooks and ebooks!

Received for Review:

The Isle in the Silver Sea by Tasha Suri
I fear I cannot resist the shiny lady knight books this year.

Savage Blooms by S.T. Gibson
For some reason this reminds me of the movie Saltburn, which I haven’t watched but the internet certainly couldn’t get enough of it awhile back so I know what it was about. I am intrigued and S.T. Gibson’s books are a vibe.

House of Dusk by Deva Fagan
Assassins, nuns, princesses, and a really cool cover all conspired to make me accept a finished copy of a book that was not really on my radar.

Sargassa by Sophie Burnham
This is a re-release with a shiny new cover, meant to match that of the sequel. I’m just here for the political intrigue and the Roman parallels.

Thanks to Orbit, Redhook, and DAW for the review copies!

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow
This was so irresistible I dropped everything and read it right away. You can check out my review HERE.

The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino
The lady knights have struck for a third time in a single book haul! I love the cover for this and eagerly await my Illumicrate edition when it arrives in September. I hope to pick this up in the next couple weeks so I can have a review ready before the release date.

Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett
The simple fact that this is about magic and cats AND it’s by Heather Fawcett has shot this straight to the top of my TBR, even though it’s not out until 2026.

Innamorata by Ava Reid
Necromancy, gothic, romantasy! This sounds weird and dark and I love it.

Thanks to Tor Books, Forever, and Del Rey for the eARCs!

My Purchases:

I haven’t shared a haul post since June, so quite a few fancy editions have arrived since then! First up, we have three books from The Broken Binding – Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon, and Black Sun. All of these are from their fantasy subscription.

Next up we have two very pretty Illumicrate editions. The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy is hands down one of my favorite special editions because the dustjacket is actually CLEAR!! The design is printed on and you can faintly see the details of the hardcover through it. Voidwalker is also very pretty and the title running vertically is pretty eye catching.

I decided to try the Acrylipics subscription for a single month, just to see what the quality was like and I’m actually impressed! The book is called Ballad of Broken Banners by K. Godin, which I hadn’t heard of prior to receiving this book box.

And last, my fancy copy of Isles of The Emberdark arrived! I backed the Kickstarter last year and the quality is just as lovely as the first four Secret Project books from Brandon Sanderson. My favorite part is that most of the pages are actually black with silver ink!!
