Flames of Mira by Clay HarmonI've had this on my TBR for awhile now and since the release date is approaching and I was in the mood for an epic fantasy chonk I decided it was finally time! I love the contrasting elements - underground volcanoes covered in fields of ice and the pseudo-alchemical creation... Continue Reading →
Locklands by Robert Jackson BennettWow, so I'm maybe 10% into the book as I type this and what a time skip! I'm honestly not sure what to expect from this, but I hope it's a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. I'm also still working my way through Of Darkness and Light by Ryan Cahill, which... The Martyr by Anthony RyanAnother highly anticipated sequel for the year. Alwyn Scribe has gone from brigand to spymaster and I'm curious to see if he rises or falls by the end of this installment. I am expecting some seriously fantastic action though! Of Darkness and Light by Ryan CahillI see what all the fuss... Continue Reading →
In the Shadow of Lightning by Brian McClellanOf course, when one of my favorite authors releases the first book in a new series I'm going to be completely thrilled and I'm also gonna go get my hands on an ARC if possible. I'm just a couple chapters in and I can already tell I'm in... Continue Reading →
Ordinary Monsters by J.M. MiroI'm about 20% into this already and I'm enjoying it at a slow pace - I think this is a book best savored! Despite the synopsis' implication that it's set entirely in England, there are a number of scenes set in the United States at the beginning. I think I'm going... Continue Reading →
Daughter of Redwinter by Ed McDonaldI really loved Ed McDonald's Blackwing series and was vastly curious about what his new work would be about. The main character is a girl who can see and speak to the dead and when she saves a woman dying in the snow her future is irrevocably altered. Really hoping... Continue Reading →
For the Throne by Hannah WhittenSoooo looking forward to checking this out finally! I loved the first book, especially the romance aspect and the cool spooky forest full of moving trees. I think I'll be zipping right through this!
Half A Soul by Olivia AtwaterHow could I possibly resist a regency romance with fae? Thus far its quite fun and I think it will be a quick read, plus the next two books are already available from Orbit as ebooks with the hard copies soon to follow! The Stardust Thief by Chelsea AbdullahAs soon... Continue Reading →
Saint Death's Daughter by C.S.E. CooneyThe synopsis for this book sounds amazing - Lanie Stones is born to a family of royal assassins, but she is in fact a necromancer and is therefore allergic to violence. She's also trying to save the family home from massive accrued debt. Sounds good, is also very weird. The... Continue Reading →
Nettle & Bone by T. KingfisherI didn't want to wait any longer to read this one! The synopsis is amazing and the bit I've read so far is darkly intriguing. Between Two Fires by Christopher BuehlmanSince reading The Blacktongue Thief I've been wanting to check out another of Buehlman's books. This is apparently medieval religious... Continue Reading →
