Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio I was a big fan of the first of Ruocchio's Sun Eater series and am really looking forward to this one. I've only just started reading it, but I can already tell you that I dearly wish it had a summary of the first book at the beginning. ... Continue Reading →
Queenslayer by Sebastien de Castell Time to continue on with the adventures of Kellen and Reichis! These books are always SO MUCH FUN and make a great light read after either very dense or serious material. I look forward to seeing how many different things he can screw up in this installment. I get both... Continue Reading →
The Girl in Red by Christina Henry This book sounds absolutely awesome and I kind of get a post-apocalyptic fairytale vibe from the synopsis. I've enjoyed other books by this author and I predict that I'll like this one at least as much. It's also a shorter book, coming in at just over 300 pages.... Continue Reading →
Velocity Weapon by Megan E. O'Keefe I need some more sci-fi in my life and this is definitely going to satisfy that need. Intergalactic war, soldiery an politics, and all the usual good space opera stuff makes Velocity Weapon sounds pretty fantastic, plus I've read a few pages and I'm already curious! ... Priest of Lies by Peter McLean Can I just tell you guys how much self control it took to put off reading this for THIS LONG? I've had the ebook for at least a month I kept telling myself to wait until the release date gets closer... AND NOW IT'S CLOSER. I can't wait to... Continue Reading →
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson This seems to have been a big hit amongst readers and I finally picked it up during an Audible sale! I'm only a couple chapters in but I like the narration and I think it'll be a fun story. Another plus is that the sequel will be out in November!
The Gameshouse by Claire North This is actually a collection of three novellas that I've been wanting to read for some time now. Now I've got them all in one place, making it easy to zip right through them. I've seen a few reviews raving about the first novella and lamenting the decline in the... Continue Reading →
Walking to Aldebaran by Adrian Tchaikovsky So, this little novella sounds creepy and awesome. I'm expecting something great since I've enjoyed so many of Adrian Tchaikovsky's other books and if it's not entirely a winner, at least it's only 140 pages! A Brightness Long Ago by Guy Gavriel Kay I CANNOT WAIT... Continue Reading →
Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott An English town where outsiders are discouraged from visiting and secrets are practically a dime a dozen... When I was approached about a review copy of this book I did about 30 seconds of research and decided I had to have it. Rotherweird sounds darkly quirky and it appealed to my... Continue Reading →
The Clockmaker's Daughter by Kate Morton Once again I am branching out beyond the SFF genre and venturing into historical fiction. I've never read anything by this author, but the synopsis was interesting and the reviews seem to be mixed. Hopefully I'll be in the group of people that really enjoy this since I do...
