The Friday Face off is a weekly meme hosted by Books by Proxy and the official rules can be found here. This is a fun way to feature your favorite book covers and show off your favorite edition!
‘There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home: a cover with a house/abandoned house
This week’s pick is The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe.
And the Winner Is:

There were over 200 covers for various versions of The Fall of the House of Usher, so I selected four that I thought were appealing. Because this is a classic, there are many covers that should be embarrassed to be on the front of a book- dull, awful things that don’t make people curious as to the contents. My picks had a *little* more character. The third cover is my favorite because the house featured is whimsical and dark, reminding me of parallel worlds or a mirror image. The cover that looks like macabre illuminated scrollwork is my second favorite. Very fitting for a Poe story. Which is your favorite?

Great covers! I think, like you, I prefer the stylized, upside-down house. The faux scroll is also very well done.

Thanks! I would love to have it as an art print or something.

Agree with your choice but also really like the fourth cover with the skeletons on.

The skeletons are super cool 😀 I like the illuminated scroll vibe I get from that one.

I should have thought of this one – I read it fairly recently. I love your cover choices – really difficult to choose a winner though – I really like the second one.
