Arm of the Sphinx by Josiah Bancroft
You know, March just has way too many good book releases. I haven’t gotten a chance to read this one yet, despite really looking forward to it! Many thanks to Orbit for the ARC.
I also got my hands on the 50th anniversary edition of Dune thanks to Ace. I read this book years ago, but was pretty excited to upgrade my ratty mass market edition to the big floppy paperback.
A Veil of Spears by Bradley P. Beaulieu
This was one of my most anticipated sequels of the year and boy was it great! I’ll get a review of this up eventually…
Another awesome looking sequel, this time from Mark Lawrence. Many thanks to Ace for a finished copy.
I was also lucky enough to receive from Sigil Independent and Phil Tucker his entire Chronicles of the Black Gate series which consists of The Path of Flames, The Black Shriving, The Siege of Abythos, The Iron Circlet, and The White Song. I’m really looking forward to checking this series out, though I’m sure it will be awhile before I can get through the whole thing!
Now this book sounds complex! It’s a story that spans a LOOONG period of time so I’m curious to see how well that’s handled. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the eGalley.
The Oddling Prince by Nancy Springer
This book just sounded really intriguing and despite the lower/middling rating I decided to request it anyways. I honestly don’t have super high hopes for this, but we shall see! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eGalley.

I’m glad I waited until later in the day to work on this post because this little beauty showed up today!!!! This is my first every Subterranean Press edition and it’s of one of my very favorite books. It’s gorgeous and it’s definitely of excellent quality!
Mind-Altering and Poisonous Plants of the World by Michael Wink, Ben-Erik van Wyk
This is one of my nerdy purchases! I’ve been collected the books by these particular authors because they have great quality books with tons of info and excellent pictures.
Knight’s Shadow by Sebastien de Castell
At last, the audiobooks are available!!! It’s a great book so far and Joe Jameson is an excellent narrator.

I had planned on reading Arm of the Sphinx as well but my March plans just didn’t quite go the way I wanted. Hope we can both get to it soon!

I have to admit, at first glance I thought the “Iron Circlet” cover was some kind of joke.
After your glowing review of Red Sister last year, any ideas on when you might get around to Grey Sister?

Joking, joking! Please don’t curse me 😀 I actually have been looking into books about different uses of plants myself. If you live in the bush you gotta know, what’s around you and how to use it (or not^^). Haven’t decided on a book yet, any recommendations?
The Oddling Prince has a pretty cover! I like that you got it even though the reviews weren’t so great. If it still sounds interesting to you, you might miss out otherwise. Worth a chance 🙂 I hope it’s not a disappointment!
I hear about Beaulieu so often and it’s always positive! Maybe I will check the author’s works out after I am done with my McClellan journey (although I don’t want it to end!)

Lol, totally not a witch 😂 As far as recommendations go, it depends on what you’re looking for and where you live. I really like the Illustrated Guide to Edible Wild Plants, as it tells you what you can eat, how to prepare and even some other survival uses for the plants. It doesn’t have the best pictures, but I thought it an interesting and inexpensive starting point.

I’ve had my eye on a collection of books relating to Australian plants (it’s high on my travel destination list) but I don’t recall the title.

Haha, that was my reasoning for the 50th anniversary edition of Dune as well! Plus, shame on me, I’ve never actually read this book the whole way through. I tried when I was in college and it was a combination of me being a sci-fi noob and also a really impatient reader at the time that I didn’t get far into it at all. I think it’s high time I tried again.

I’m still on my first paperback of Dune, the poor thing is falling apart but I love it too much to replace it. I got an ARC of The Oddling Prince as well, not sure if I’m going to read it or let it go.
