Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and it’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Review Copies:

A Labyrinth of Scions and Sorcery by Curtis Craddock
I received a copy of this from Netgalley a couple weeks ago and immediately devoured this book, so I was extra happy when a finished copy showed up as well. This was an excellent read and I’ll be sharing a review soon. Thanks to Tor for the lovely hardcover.
This is going to be my next read, mostly because I think it looks cool and I’ve never read Ann Leckie before. Thanks to Orbit for the finished copy.
Ship of Smoke and Steel by Django Wexler
A new YA novel from Django Wexler where a girl with a rare magical talent is sent to steal a ghost ship. SO COOL. Thanks to Tor Teen for the finished copy!
Gates of Stone by Angus Macallan
This book seems to have it all – woman escapes unwanted marriage and aims to take over kingdom, prince hunts magical sword, and crazed sorcerer tries to destroy the world. Early reviews are looking good, so I suppose the author manage to execute this prodigious plot perfectly (or well enough anyway). Thanks to Ace for the finished copy.
The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross
AHHH another Beauty and the Beast retelling!! Reviews are mixed, but the cover was so pretty and I actually really liked the synopsis. Many thanks to Berkley for sending this over.
Never-Contented Things by Sarah Porter
Honestly my expectations for this book are not high, but it has FAERIES! And the cover was appealing… yeah I’m a little shallow sometimes. Thanks to Tor Teen for the eARC.
Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes
I’ve been wanting to read a Sam Sykes book forever and now’s my chance! I loathe this cover but the synopsis is AWESOME. Thanks to Orbit for the eARC.
Kellanved’s Reach by Ian C. Esslemont
Finally, the story of how mad Kellanved gets the T’lan Imass to do his bidding! I expect this will be an epic story, especially since ICE’s writing improves with each new installment. Thanks to Tor for the eARC.
My Purchases:

The Food Lab by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt
I picked this up after Christmas because I was looking for something educational that combined two of my favorite hobbies – reading and food. It’s an excellent (but HUGE) book that I’ll review at some point in the coming months. Thus far I would highly recommend.
I also made a post-Christmas trip to Books-A-Million where I grabbed a few books that I wanted physical copies of including Year One by Nora Roberts, The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan, and The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert.
The Flavor Bible by Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg
This is a really interesting book that details flavor combinations for practically every ingredient/herb/spice under the sun. It’s really cool, though I would recommend the physical copy of the book as I find the ebook to be a hassle to navigate.
Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie
Another excellent book. A review for this will be coming soon.
Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie
And to round out the trilogy, this will be my next read. I’ll be all set for Abercrombie’s new series later this year!
Arm of the Sphinx by Josiah Bancroft
It only took me a year to finally read this, but I enjoyed it and now maybe I can catch up and read The Hod King next!

I’ve never read a Sykes book either and have an ARC… don’t know what I’m getting myself into!

I am looking forward to ICE’s book and already have wish-listed on amazon. As long as it is as good as the previous 2 books, I’ll be more than satisfied.
