The Liar’s Knot by M.A. Carrick
I’ve been mood reading lately and mostly ignoring release dates (within reason!), so I’m going to check out The Liar’s Knot this week even though it doesn’t come out until December! I’m especially invested in seeing more Derossi Vargo in this installment.
Heavy Lies the Crown by Ben Galley
I patiently waited for the audiobook release of this book because the narration is SO good. I’ve barely scratched the surface on this one and love it already. I mean, trees that eat people????

I can’t wait to read the Liar’s Knot. I’ve not read the Ben Galley’s series – I think I was thinking this was a much longer series and I was too far behind but Heavy Lies the Crown is No.2. So, these are the Scalussen series (and I was thinking they were all part of the Emaneska series – probably because the covers seem to follow in terms of style). Have you read the earlier series? Can these be picked up without reading the first series?

I haven’t read the first series yet, so I would say that yes, you can start with the Scalussen series and not be confused! It introduces the characters really well and touches on the history a bit without feeling like an info-dump!
