The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Honestly, at 20% in, I don’t quite know what to make of this book. The descriptions of Vermont and the gorgeous, crisp fall days are wonderful. The characters are a mixed bag and I don’t quite like any of them at this point, even the narrator who’s web of lies about his life stress me out – he’s so going to get caught!
I’m still working my way (slowly) through The Midnight Feast and I can honestly say I hate Francesca. I can already tell I will have many thoughts about this book once I finish up and review it! I have one August ARC left, so I think this will be the month of the mood read and getting a head start on my September ARC list.

I read The Secret History the year it was released and loved it, but I’m wondering how I’d feel doing a reread. So curious to hear your final thoughts!

Right now I think I prefer If We Were Villains. I’m hoping I enjoy The Secret History though!

I never did finish The Secret History — it honestly never sucked me in. I couldn’t understand the main character’s motivations for anything he did. But maybe you’ll like it more than me!

I was beginning to fear that would be the case for me, but it’s starting to get more interesting! That might all change though 😂 I’m still only 30% in.

Good luck with The Secret History! I know people love it, but I’m an exception — I remember disliking it a LOT. But I finished… and I’m definitely an outlier on this one.
