Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan
Now that I’ve had a couple mood reads, it’s time to wrap up my August ARCs! I’ve been looking forward to this one, as I’ve seen some positive reactions to the story and I love the synopsis.
The Gathering by C.J. Tudor
I picked this up during a recent Audible sale because it sounded cool and it IS cool! This is set in a world where vampires exist and are a protected species. The story follows a detective that specializes in vampire related crimes as she investigates the murder of a teenage boy in a remote Alaskan village. I’m surprised by how much I’m loving this.
I’m super behind on blog hopping this week thanks to some serious computer burnout. After sitting at a computer all week at work, I couldn’t bring myself to sit down and stare at a screen any longer once I got home. That’s not to say I didn’t spend hours staring at my Kindle…. but that’s different!
Saturday I went to Asheville to watch my husband compete in a jiu-jitsu competition which was a first for both of us. It was pretty intense! He was pleased with his performance, especially considering he was going up against younger competitors (thanks to a lack of people in his age bracket) and he’s only been doing it for a year.

Enjoy! I really liked The Gathering and Long Live Evil sounds really good. Jiu-jitsu, wow, that does sound intense😬

It was quite intense! Not the sport for me – too much sweaty human contact 🤣

The Gathering is fantastic! I just finished up Long Live Evil and thought it was okay – some things I loved, some things I didn’t love.

I’m about 70% in. Probably finish it tomorrow. I like it but the first 30% felt slow somehow, even though I was t struggling to pick it up. Maybe such a lot to take on Baird straight away.

It was slow at the beginning! Around the halfway point it became much more engaging.

Yes definitely. Plus as the story progresses the characters develop really well which in some ways I didn’t expect.
