Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly themed post first created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010 and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s theme is all about books featuring delectable fantasy feasts and mouthwatering morsels. I love when a book goes hard on the food descriptions!

- The House Witch by Delemhach – the main character is a chef and has magic that makes even the simplest of dishes taste divine. I love the dedication to describing food throughout the series!
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst – Kiela is trying to make a new life for herself and what better way than making jams for the local bakery?
- Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Mansicalco – I may not have loved this series, but I did love the descriptions of the Italian food! The main character’s family owns a restaurant, so this comes up quite a lot, especially in the first book.
- Redwall by Brian Jacques – I think many of us fondly remember all the feast scenes throughout the Redwall books. Enough to make a kid hungry!
- The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh – One of the few redeeming features of this book were the food descriptions. This is set in New Orleans and a fancy restaurant called Jacques’ is quite important to the plot.

- A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher – The main character has baking magic, and makes lovely gingerbread men, bread, and the like for eating as well as defending the city!
- Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree – the OG cozy fantasy is about Viv, an orc who opens a coffee shop. There are cinnamon rolls, biscotti, and of course, coffee.
- The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch – As part of their training, the Gentleman Bastards learned to cook, and to cook well! There’s a delightful scene toward the beginning where the whole gang fixes up a multi-course meal that had me drooling.
- A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin – the epic fantasy feasts are of course, epic of proportion. Dornish food sounds delightful, and of course Sansa Stark loves her lemon bars.
- Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep – I distinctly remember a lot of text devoted to pie in this book. Apple cranberry, to be specific.

The Spellshop is a good one, I was craving bread and pastries the whole time I read it😁

I love how “foodie” books are so popular we can make an entire list of fantasy food books 🙂

I agree! I wouldn’t mind if more authors included some delicious food descriptions – it would certainly make me even more interested!
