Weekly Recap: 8/30/26

I’m free of ARC obligations and have been reading a couple books that caught my eye awhile back. The Historian is a chunky book about a family haunted by the legend of Dracula. The story is told through the recitation of stories, letters, and the view point of the Historian’s daughter and though it’s taking me ages to get through, I’m really enjoying it. I also picked up (and just finished) The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan, which follows a woman investigating her partner’s apparent suicide and DI Cormac Reilly, who is working an adjacent case.

Though I’m making myself enjoy or at least experience the last vestiges of summer, I am looking forward to things cooling down! I’ve also been enjoying these moodier reads lately.

  1. I don’t understand what “free of ARC obligations” means 😂 Also I think you may need an intervention on what is clearly a midlife crisis 😉 (also congratulations!)
