2025 Reading Goals

It’s officially the start of a shiny new year, so that means its time for Reading Goals! This is actually going to look pretty similar to my 2024 Reading Goals post from last year, but for different reasons.

  1. Goodreads Reading Challenge
    • This year I’m keeping my Goodreads goal quite low (36 books) and will adjust throughout the year as I meet goals. Probably. You see, I’m having a baby in the spring and expect the amount of time I have to dedicate to reading to drop quite drastically! I’m hoping that as I adjust to this HUGE life change I can still find time for my very favorite hobby, even if it’s just sneaking in a few minutes here and there or mostly listening to audiobooks.
  2. Limit ARC Requests
    • I’m actually feeling really good about limiting my ARC requests due to the aforementioned baby arrival. I currently have 14 books sitting on my NetGalley shelf and four of those will be dropping off soon as I finish books and write up reviews. The plan is to only snag ARCs for those books I am genuinely SUPER EXCITED for and not picking up a bunch of things that just sound interesting.
  3. Read My Backlist
    • I have quite a few books sitting on my shelves (both physical and digital) that I need to read, so I’m hoping that I’ll finally be able to pick up some of these this year. The nice thing is, many of these series are either now complete or a sequel will be released this year, so I can do a little binge reading!
  4. Mood Reading
    • As I said last year, reading is a joy and a hobby, so it should never feel like a chore! I’m thinking about re-subscribing to Kindle Unlimited so I can read all the horrid romantasy and all the cool self-published fantasy that catches my eye.
  5. Keep on Blogging!
    • While I’m sure I’ll be taking a break from blogging for at least a little bit, I’d like to keep sharing my love for books on this blog that I’ve been working on for nearly 10 years now! This might mean reducing my post number or variety considerably, but right now the plan is to stick around 🙂

    1. I’m very hopeful about my ability to keep blogging! I may reduce some weekly posts down to a monthly wrap up and post less frequently overall for awhile, but I’ve workthion this for nearly a decade, so I’d hate to abandon it!

  1. I expect audiobooks to be your best friend, but what do I know 😉 Early congratulations are in order, though on your wee baby dragon 🐉 and I can’t wait to find out which (Kaladin) name you went with!! Good luck limiting your ARC requests! I always try to do that lol

  2. Oh wow, congratulations! It’s a huge change but well worth it😁 And the time will fly by, so immerse yourself in every moment. I love your goals and I think they are perfect for a year with a new baby😁

  3. Happy New Year and Congratulations.

Great goals. I think the best thing you can do is let things evolve in a natural way without stressing yourself out. You’re going to have new priorities but you’ll still have your blog and even if it goes quieter for a little while it’s easy to return.

  4. Congrats on your pregnancy and nearly 10 years of blogging! My 2025 reading goals are pretty much the same as yours, especially #2 and #3.
